From my ear there has not been a hardcore band in Louisville that actually adhered to the sound that the city was known for in a decade or more. At least as far as players under the age of 40 goes. Basic Needs comes along and takes that emotive and raw creative energy but modernizes it in a way that also moves you on the dance floor. This 7” is honest and contextualizes a lot of the feelings that I think bring a lot of us into this counter-culture.
